This 30-second clip is from the 3-D film that was created to support Michael Jackson’s performance of “Earth Song.” The song has a strong theme about the future of the planet, and Jackson saw it as a unique opportunity to deliver a message to millions of people who would have seen him on tour. The MJ tribute performance on the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards will feature this 3-D film, which has never before been seen by the public in its entirety.
According to industry sources This Is It is being tipped to be nominated for Best Picture.
But don’t expect to see it at the 2010 Oscars. The cut-off date for 2010 nominations was August 31, 2009. So it will have to wait until 2011 to be included in the nominations. It is almost guaranteed a nomination, after breaking all records for a concert documentary (grossing $101 million in the first weekend worldwide), although with recent offerings being Hannah Montana or the Jonas brothers it is understandable.
Also, Kenny Ortega, director for the movie, is expected to receive a nomination for Best Director; for This Is It.
Today the poster for the This Is It movie was released by Sony Pictures for the upcoming movie which is due to be in cinemas October 28, 2009.
At present the official movie website ThisIsIt-Movie.com only has an opportunity to signup for news of the movie; and the announcement that tickets for the two-week presentation will go on sale Sunday, September 27, 2009.
